Children's Programs
It's every kid's summer dream to be part of a fun, memorable day camp experience, but it's not always possible for each child. Joining Hands Mission is helping to make this dream a reality for children whose families are experiencing homelessness or financial hardships.
Children who will be in kindergarten through 5th grade this fall can choose from the following two programs:
Morning Stars (half-day program)
When: June 14th thru July 30th, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
Cost: A small fee is charged based upon Florida Income Eligibility Guidelines, and some scholarships are available.
Breakfast will be served from 8:00 to 9:00 am, followed by morning Christian programming. Lunch service begins at 12:00 noon. Maximum of 40 campers.
Joining Hands Kids Camp (full-day program)
When: August 2nd thru 6th, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Cost: Free - based upon Florida Income Eligibility Guidelines
Morning arrivals start at 8:00 am with afternoon pickup at 5:00 pm. Each day, campers receive a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Volunteers present various learning activities including singing, drama, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor physical activities, as well as many special events. In addition, at the end of the week, all campers receive a new pair of shoes and a back-to-school backpack filled with all of the necessary supplies to help kick-off their new school year. Maximum of 110 campers.
Registration
Hours: Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Fridays 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Where: Joining Hands Community Mission Resource Center, 3214 U.S. Highway 19, Holiday, FL.
Be sure to bring the following:
• Child(ren)'s birth certificate
• Proof of West Pasco residency (such as utility bill, rental agreement)
• Parent or guardian's photo ID
• Proof of curent income status (we utilize Florida Income Eligibility Guidelines)
• Current photo of child (portrait)
• $10 non-refundable registration fee
Please be prepared to fill out documentation including child's immunization status and health information (such as allergies, prescription medication needs, etc.)
Registration for camps is accepted on a first come, first served basis.
How you can help
It takes many volunteers to make camp fun, successful, and safe. The offering of your time, gifts, and/or talents to the Joining Hands summer outreach is greatly appreciated. Work areas include:
• Breakfast/lunch preparation and/or serving
• Security
• Registration
• Transportation
• Food/snack preparation and distribution
• AM and PM programming (music, crafts, drama, PE, other)
• Health and/or Behavioral Specialist
• Nursery coordination
• Custodial/cleanup team
• Clothes, shoes, and backpack collection and/or distribution
• Small group/crew leader
Sponsor a child
The financial value of sending a child to both Morning Stars and Kids Camp is $450. But you can help a child attend camp all summer long with a donation of only $100.
