Joining Hands

In a bold leap of faith, the congregation of Community United Methodist Church refocused its efforts to reach out and aid families in the community who are in financial and spiritual distress. This body of Christ ended its old charter and established in its place a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a new purpose.

Our purpose is to:

• Participate in works of kindness, mercy, and justice for families and children who have become vulnerable and at risk due to a lack of financial health.

• Provide a one-stop resource center for families that will focus resources in a single locaion in order to assist these families by connecting them with resources so that the basic needs of adequate food and shelter are met, families are strengthened, children are cared for, and healthcare is provided.

• Create a transitional/emergency shelter for families who find themselves homeless.

• Provide educational programs to assist financially stressed families budget and prioritize their limited resources in order to achieve financial health.

• Sponsor community events which meet a specific need for the families we are trying to help; for example, feeding programs and summer camps for children. In addition to meeting a specific need, these programs are intended to allow for individuals who want to give back to their community a chance to serve and become engaged on a persoal level with individuals who are less fortunate.

• Provide a place where individuals and families who are lonely, isolated, and alienated can find friendship and life-changing relationships.

• Provide a place for authentic worship that pulsates with the heart of God.

Working together

As our name suggests, we are joining hands with local organizations and churches as we reach out to those in need. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are able to obtain funding from government agencies, foundations, businesses, and others who share our goals.

Joining Hands Community Mission is a Pasco County outreach initiative of the United Methodist Church Gulf Central District and Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa. We also have collaborative relationships with United Way of Pasco, Saint Leo University, One CommUNITY Now, and Eckerd Youth Alternatives. In addition, our CEO, Rev. Dan Campbell, is the president of the Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco County, whose goal is to end homelessness in Pasco County in the next ten years.

Working together, we can join hands with more people to build a stronger community.
